If I ever have to adjust the refrigerant levels in this product, is it ok to use R-410A?

My system isn't operating correctly and I'm seeing either an "FH CC" or "EH C1" code on the display of my indoor unit. What does this mean?
These two codes indicate that the internal refrigerant leak detection system may have either detected a refrigerant leak inside the unit or there could be a problem with the sensor itself.
The first thing to try is:
- Turn the system off either via the correct circuit breaker in your electrical panel or the disconnect switch that supplies your system's outdoor condensing unit.
- Wait for 1 minute.
- Turn the power to the system back on again to see if the error code has now been cleared.
If the code appears again though we recommend turning the power to the product off and having a professional who is trained to work with R-454B refrigerant inspect the product to identify if the sensor is at fault or if there is a refrigerant leak.
If the code is:
"FH CC" - Inspect the wiring between the refrigerant leak sensor and the control board, and ensure that all connections are plugged in and secure.
"EH C1" - Inspect the refrigerant circuit lines, coils, and connections for indications of a refrigerant leak.
If it was a refrigerant leak, the issue must be fixed and the refrigerant* topped up before attempting to put the system back into service.
*It's critical to use ONLY R-454B refrigerant to replace any that was lost from the system. Do not attempt to mix in any other type of refrigerant!

How often should I clean the air filter in my indoor head unit?
We recommend that you remove and clean the air filter every two weeks. After 240 hours of use the display on the head unit will flash a "CL" code. This is a reminder to clean the filter.
Please refer to the Maintenance section of the product manual for the air filter removal and cleaning procedure.

Do I ever need to replace the air filter in my indoor head unit?
Yes.
- If the air filter should be damaged at any point (during cleaning for example) it should be replaced with a new one.
- After 2,880 hours of use the display on the head unit will flash a "nF" code. The air filter should be replaced with a new one at this time.
- Please refer to the Maintenance section of the product manual for the air filter removal and replacement procedure.

I'm installing a ducted indoor unit. Can it be installed in a vertical position?
No.
The ducted indoor units must only be installed in a horizontal orientation.
Installing the ducted unit in a vertical orientation could result in malfunction of the product and water damage to your property.
I see a button labeled "FOLLOW ME" on the remote control. What does this do?
Activating the FOLLOW ME function will trigger the remote control's display to show the actual temperature at the location where the user moves the remote to, and that temperature at the remote will now be used by the indoor unit as its target temperature.
While FOLLOW ME is active, the remote control will send the temperature signal to the indoor unit every three minutes.
FOLLOW ME requires a "line of sight" between the remote control and the indoor unit, and the function will automatically deactivate if the head unit does not receive a signal from the remote control in any given 7 minute period of time.
If you have the optional wall-mounted thermostat installed, that too has a FOLLOW ME function.
Neither the remote control or the wall thermostat takes priority over FOLLOW ME.
Here's how they work together;
- If the FOLLOW ME function on the thermostat is ON, the indoor unit can also receive the FOLLOW ME signal from the remote control.
- If the FOLLOW ME function on the thermostat is ON, the thermostat will not receive the FOLLOW ME signal from the remote control.
- If the FOLLOW ME function on the remote control is ON, the indoor unit will also receive the FOLLOW ME signal from the thermostat.
After long periods of inactivity, are there any steps that I should take before using the product again?
Yes.
- Check for damaged wiring.
- Check and clean air filters. If damage is found, replace the filter.
- Check for refrigerant leaks. If leaking is evident please do not use the unit. We recommend that a qualified contractor be used to rectify the problem.
- Replace batteries in remote control.
- Ensure that nothing is blocking any air inlets and outlets, and that all grilles are clear of obstruction.
I'm seeing either a "CL" Or "nF" code on the display screen. Is there a problem?
No, these two codes are triggered by automatic timers and are simply just reminders that it's time to carry out maintenance on the indoor head unit's air filter:
- "CL" - This is displayed every 240 hours of use and is a reminder to remove and clean the air filter.
- "nF" - This is displayed every 2,880 hours of use and is a reminder to replace the air filter with a new one.
Once you have taken the appropriate action based on which of the two codes is displayed, you must manually reset the code by doing the following:
- Press the "LED" button on your remote control 4 times, or press the "Manual Control" button 3 times.
- If the manual reset is not carried out, the code will continue to display every time you restart the unit.
What is the maximum length of line set that can be used?
The maximum length of line set that can be used between the outdoor unit and the indoor head unit depends on the specific model. For further information, please refer to the product manual.

Can one indoor unit cool my entire home?
An indoor head unit is designed to operate in one zone only (for example; A living room or a bedroom).
If you are looking to condition multiple rooms you can design a system that uses one outdoor unit that is paired to multiple indoor head units. Correct sizing and model choice for the application will be critical, so please refer to the product brochure for further details.

The indoor head unit’s fan runs even when the room temperature is satisfied. Is this normal?
Yes, the indoor unit continuously circulates air as a way of determining the temperature and humidity of the room.
I have a multi-zone system installed. Can each indoor unit be set to a different mode from the others?
No, all indoor units must be set to the same mode.
Example: If you set one indoor unit to "Cool" and the other to "Heat" the system will fail to operate correctly.
Is the Climate 5000 mini split product Wifi or Bluetooth capable?
No, the Climate 5000 mini split units are not connected products and therefore have no Wifi or Bluetooth capability.
Does the optional wall-mounted thermostat display any error codes that may appear on the indoor unit?
Yes, any error code that appears on the indoor unit will also be displayed on the optional wall-mounted thermostat if installed.
IDS Light Heat Pump Models (R-454B)

I see gateway and antenna spare parts available for purchase. Does this mean that all IDS products can be updated to have a connectivity function?
No.
The gateway and antenna parts are compatible only with the IDS Ultra and IDS Premium Connected products. The connectivity parts are NOT compatible with any other IDS products, including the IDS Light.
There is no way to upgrade a non-connected IDS model to add connectivity.
What is the EasyAir App, and is it something that I can use with my IDS Light heat pump?
The EasyAir app allows contractors and homeowners to wirelessly connect to a Bosch IDS Ultra or IDS Premium Connected heat pump via Android or iOS device.
No other IDS models, including the IDS Light, have connectivity functions.
Therefore the app cannot be used with the IDS Light models.
Is a communicating thermostat required for the installation of an IDS Light heat pump model?
The IDS Light is compatible with most 24vac thermostats, and a communicating thermostat is not required.
For optimal comfort and efficiency, we recommend that a Bosch BCC110 connected thermostat be used. For information regarding this thermostat, please visit this page.
The unit does not seem to work in the expected mode (heating or cooling), what could be the problem?
If you're experiencing a situation where the unit is not putting out heated or cooled air when needed, please follow these steps:
1. Has your room thermostat been correctly setup to energize the heat pump's reversing valve in heat mode only?
No: Refer to your thermostat's instruction manual to ensure that it is programmed to energize the heat pump's reversing valve only in heating mode.
Yes: Move to Step 2.
2. When calling for heat, the room thermostat should be sending 24v to terminals C and B on the outdoor unit's control board. Use your multimeter to test across terminals C and B on the control board while the thermostat is calling for heat.
If you are NOT getting 24v to C and B: Check the wiring between the thermostat and the heat pump, and correct any errors or damage that you may find. If you find no issues, then you may have a faulty, or incompatible, thermostat.
If you ARE getting 24v to C and B: Move to Step 3.
3. When calling for cooling, the room thermostat should also be sending 24v to terminals C and Y on the outdoor unit's control board. Use your multimeter to test across terminals C and Y on the control board while the thermostat is calling for cooling.
If you are NOT getting 24v to C and Y: Check the wiring between the thermostat and the outdoor unit, and correct any errors or damage that you may find. If you find no issues, then you may have a faulty, or incompatible, thermostat.
If you ARE getting 24v to C and Y: Move to Step 4.
4. Locate the "CHECK" button on the outdoor unit's control board, next to the LED display.
Press the button until the parameter "1" is shown on the display, then wait a second or so and the number will change automatically. This number shows which mode the outdoor unit is currently in:
"0" - Standby
"2" - Cooling
"3" - Heating
Therefore if the room thermostat is correctly set to energize the heat pump's reversing valve only in heat mode, and you have verified that the wiring is correct and that you are seeing 24v across terminals C and Y or across C and B on the outdoor unit's control board while the thermostat is calling for heating or cooling, the mode parameter shown on the display should be "2" for heating or "3" for cooling.
If this is not the case, and if either "0" or "2" is showing instead of "3", then the control board may be faulty or wiring could be incorrect.
The LED display on the outdoor unit's control board is blank, what should be checked?
Safety Notice - This is a high voltage product and contains refrigerant. Only professionals who are qualified to work on such equipment should do so.
If you have provided power to the outdoor unit but notice that the control board's LED display is blank, please follow these steps:
- Use your multimeter to ensure that correct voltage is being supplied to the unit across the L1 and L2 terminals. This product requires a supply voltage that falls within 187vac to 253vac.
If the supply voltage is NOT within the correct range: Investigate the electrical installation to the product and remedy any problems that may be found.
- Check all fuses on the control board.
- Remove power from the condenser and let it sit for 5 minutes.
Unplug the pressure transducer, the condenser fan, and compressor U, V, W.
Power up the unit:
- If you now have a working LED display then one of the unplugged components is likely to be defective. You can plug them back in one at a time to try to determine which one is the problem.
- If you still have no LED display after powering up the board with none of the above components plugged in, but all fuses are good, then the board is likely to be faulty and should be replaced.
My home is too humid even though the temperature is what I set it to on the thermostat, what could be wrong?
If the system appears to be struggling to lower the humidity, here are some possible causes:
- Your IDS product may be oversized for your application, which is resulting in the set temperature being satisfied faster than the moisture can be removed from the air. Please contact your installer to verify that the IDS model is sized appropriately for the application. Detailed information and specifications downloads for the product can be found towards the bottom of this webpage: IDS Light Product Page.
- The ducting in your home may not be sized, or laid out, to provide correct airflow for the specific IDS model installed. Your installer should verify the static pressure.
- The room thermostat may be setup incorrectly. Please refer to the instructions for your model of thermostat to ensure that the “Run Cycles” is set to “1”.
- There may be an incompatibility with the thermostat that you are using. Some brands/models of thermostat interrupt the call for heat (or cooling) when they are charging. If your model of thermostat operates in such a way, then it may cause control issues with your heating and cooling equipment.
- Your contractor may need to work with our technical support teams to check certain readings (such as the charge level for super heat and sub cooling in force mode). If the product is sized correctly for the application, the ducting and static pressure is proven to be correct, and the thermostat is working correctly, then please have your contractor call our experts at 1-800-283-3787 (Monday – Friday 8am to 5pm) and we will be happy to assist further.
What are the limitations on line set length?
The line set must not exceed 100ft length or a lift of over 50ft*.
If the line set will have a 50ft lift, then it can only have 50ft out.

What is the main difference between this IDS product and other inverter products like it on the market?
Independent compressor modulation maintains constant indoor coil temperature, allowing for excellent dehumidification without the need for indoor-unit fan modulation.
Are auxiliary heat kits available for the indoor air handler units?
Yes, heat kits are available in multiple kW ratings.

Does Bosch recommend that IDS products not be installed in areas that could be susceptible to seacoast corrosion?
No, we do not explicitly prohibit installing IDS products in coastal areas.
However, we do note in the Installation & Operation Manual (supplied with the product) that coils may be susceptible to corrosion in such environments and the following advice is provided to reduce the potential for issues:
Installation Location
In seacoast regions, locate the unit on a side of the building that is away from the direction of the waterfront.
Seacoast Maintenance
In addition to the regular scheduled maintenance, in seacoast locations we recommend that a qualified HVAC contractor wash down the outdoor unit's coil and exposed cabinet surfaces with fresh water every three months.

Does Bosch approve the use of any 3rd party coatings for the coil?
No, we do not approve the use of any 3rd party coatings.
We have not tested any 3rd party coatings with our coils, and therefore we have no knowledge of their effectiveness or their impact to our product's performance and longevity.
Can A Customer Choose To Use A 3rd Party Coating Anyway?
Of course, but the decision is solely that of the customer and any damage or loss of performance of the Bosch product due to the use of a 3rd party coating would not be covered under warranty.

What is the EasyAir App, and is it a free of charge subscription?
What Is The EasyAir App?
The EasyAir App allows contractors and homeowners* to wirelessly connect to Bosch IDS Premium Connected and Bosch IDS Ultra heat pumps via Android or iOS device.
*For homeowners to be able to access the EasyAir app on their own mobile device, the installing contractor must grant access permission via a verification code to the homeowner through the app.
The app contains great features, such as:
- Easy product registration
- Installation guide
- Troubleshooting tools
- Product information
- Warranty details
- Energy usage information
Is There A Fee For Using EasyAir?
- The Bosch EasyAir is offered free of charge for 2-years, thereafter certain fees may apply (fees TBD at this time).
- Bosch will not charge you without your consent.
- Initial download of the app and start of service does not require users to enter any credit card or payment details.
- Users will receive an in-app notification and email before their free 2-year service period expires. At that time, the user will have an option to extend their service by entering their credit card information and accepting the payment of the additional fee.
Can I Configure And Change Unit Settings Via The EasyAir App?
- The app is intended to provide you with a way to view and provide information only.
- It does not provide a way to change any setting on the heat pump itself.
Where Can I Download The EasyAir App?
- For Android Devices: Google Play Store
- For iOS Devices: Apple App Store
Is the gateway and antenna part kit compatible with all IDS product models?
No.
The gateway and antenna components come built-in to the IDS Premium Connected and IDS Ultra products, and we have made them available as spare parts in the event of a technical failure for those models only.
They are NOT compatible with any other IDS products.
I've had some problems with the gateway connection dropping out. What could be the cause?
Bosch IDS connected products utilize LTE gateways that are dependent on local third-party cellular service.
Signal availability, strength, and performance can be affected by location, weather, terrain, user equipment, network capacity, and other factors that are outside of our control.
Due to that, Bosch does not guarantee cellular service availability or uninterrupted gateway operations.
Neither gateway operations nor cellular availability affects the performance and efficiency of your heat pump itself.
Does the contractor need to connect the heat pump to the home's Wi-Fi network?
The Bosch IDS Premium Connected and Bosch IDS Ultra heat pumps use a 4G cellular network, and therefore does not require a connection to a Wi-Fi network.
Is it required that the homeowner must grant remote access to their contractor?
The homeowner is not required to grant remote access.
However, if the homeowner would like to utilize remote monitoring features, they will need to grant remote access to their contractor.
A homeowner can change their monitoring preferences at any time through the “My Appliance” tab in the app.
If the homeowner has no access to a smartphone, will the contractor be able to utilize the connectivity features?
When using the Bosch EasyAir app with their smartphone, the contractor will be able to use and view system data when on site and connected to Bluetooth.
Remote features (features available to contractor when not on site) will only be available if the homeowner has downloaded the Bosch EasyAir app on their own smartphone and granted remote access to the contractor.
Homeowners who don’t have a smartphone will therefore be unable to utilize the connected features.
In App stores, I see Bosch EasyAir, Bosch EasyStart, BoschRemote, and Bosch EasyControl. Do I need to download all four for my IDS Premium Connected heat pump?
The only app that you need in order to connect your mobile device to your IDS Premium Connected or IDS Ultra heat pump is the EasyAir app.
EasyStart, EasyRemote, and EasyConnect are apps that are compatible with other Bosch products, not the IDS Premium Connect heat pump.
I'm seeing an "H4" code on the control board's display on the outdoor unit. What could the problem be caused by?
Safety Notice - This is a high voltage product and contains refrigerant. Only professionals who are qualified to work on such equipment should do so.
You may occasionally see the P6/L0-L9 code shown on the outdoor unit's LED display, and the system will automatically restart after 6 minutes. However, if this happens 3 times within 60 minutes the unit will lock out on an H4 code.
In that event, the installer/service professional should:
- Check that the service valves are open.
If the valves were NOT open: Open the service valves, then power cycle the product and verify that it runs correctly.
If the valves WERE open: Move to Step 2.
- Check that the compressor wiring is correctly connected.
If the compressor wiring was NOT correctly connected: Reseat the connections in accordance with the wiring diagram, then power cycle the product and verify that it runs correctly.
If the compressor wiring WAS correctly connected: Move to Step 3.
- Check the compressor insulation resistance to ensure that is greater than 100kOhms.
If the resistance is NOT greater than 100kOhms: Replace the compressor.
If the resistance IS greater than 100kOhms: Move to Step 4.
- Check that the resistance of the U/V/W terminals are normal.
If the resistance is NOT normal: Replace the compressor.
If the resistance IS normal: Move to Step 5.
- Power cycle the unit and ensure that it's now running correctly.
If the unit IS now operating correctly: Keep it running for at least 60 minutes to ensure that the H4 code no longer appears.
If the unit continues to run correctly with no further H4 code after at least 60 minutes: The issue should now be resolved.
If the H4 code continues to appears and the unit locks out: Replace the control board.

If you have provided power to the outdoor unit but notice that the control board's LED display is blank, please follow these steps:
- Use your multimeter to ensure that correct voltage is being supplied to the unit across the L1 and L2 terminals. This product requires a supply voltage that falls within 187vac to 253vac.
If the supply voltage is NOT within the correct range: Investigate the electrical installation to the product and remedy any problems that may be found.
- Check all fuses on the control board.
- Remove power from the condenser and let it sit for 5 minutes.
Unplug the pressure transducer, the condenser fan, and compressor U, V, W.
Power up the unit:
- If you now have a working LED display then one of the unplugged components is likely to be defective. You can plug them back in one at a time to try to determine who one is the problem.
- If you still have no LED display after powering up the board with none of the above components plugged in, but all fuses are good, then the board is likely to be faulty and should be replaced.
My home is too humid even though the temperature is what I set it to on the thermostat, what could be wrong?
1, Your IDS product may be oversized for your application, which is resulting in the set temperature being satisfied faster that the moisture can be removed from the air. Please contact your installer to verify that the IDS model is sized appropriately for the application. Detailed information and specifications downloads for the product can be found towards the bottom of this webpage (IDS Premium Connected (R-454B) Product Page).
2. The ducting in your home may not be sized, or laid out, to provide correct airflow for the specific IDS model installed. Your installer should verify the static pressure.
3. The room thermostat may be setup incorrectly. Please refer to the instructions for your model of thermostat to ensure that the “Run Cycles” is set to “1”.
4. There may be an incompatibility with the thermostat that you are using. Some brands/models of thermostat interrupt the call for heat (or cooling) when they are charging. If your model of thermostat operates in such a way, then it may cause control issues with your heating and cooling equipment.
5. Your contractor may need to work with our technical support teams to check certain readings (such as the charge level for super heat and sub cooling in force mode). If the product is sized correctly for the application, the ducting and static pressure is proven to be correct, and the thermostat is working correctly, then please have your contractor call our experts on 1 800 283 3787 (Monday – Friday 8am to 5pm) and we will be happy to assist further.
Does Bosch recommend that IDS products not be installed in areas that could be susceptible to seacoast corrosion?
No, we do not explicitly prohibit installing IDS products in coastal areas.
However, we do note in the Installation & Operation Manual (supplied with the product) that coils may be susceptible to corrosion in such environments and the following advice is provided to reduce the potential for issues:
Installation Location
In seacoast regions, locate the unit on a side of the building that is away from the direction of the waterfront.
Seacoast Maintenance
In addition to the regular scheduled maintenance, in seacoast locations we recommend that a qualified HVAC contractor wash down the outdoor unit's coil and exposed cabinet surfaces with fresh water every three months.

IDS Ultra Cold Climate Heat Pump Models
What outside temperature can the IDS Ultra continue to provide heating at?
The IDS Ultra was designed as a heat pump option for our customers who are located in colder climates. It can provide 100% of its heating capacity down to 5°F.
But that's not all. The IDS Ultra can provide your home with heat all the way down to an outside temperature of -13°F, albeit at a reduced capacity.

If I ever have to adjust the refrigerant levels in this product, is it ok to use R-410A?
No.
This product is designed and approved to use R-454B refrigerant only.

The EasyAir app allows contractors and homeowners* to wirelessly connect to Bosch IDS Premium Connected and Bosch IDS Ultra heat pumps via Android or iOS device.
*For homeowners to be able to access the EasyAir app on their own mobile device, the installing contractor must grant access permission via a verification code to the homeowner through the app.
The app contains great features, such as:

- Warranty details
- Energy usage information
Is There A Fee For Using EasyAir?
- The Bosch EasyAir is offered free of charge for 2-years, thereafter certain fees may apply (fees TBD at this time).
- Bosch will not charge you without your consent.
- Initial download of the app and start of service does not require users to enter any credit card or payment details.
- Users will receive an in-app notification and email before their free 2-year service period expires. At that time, the user will have an option to extend their service by entering their credit card information and accepting the payment of the additional fee.
Can I Configure And Change Unit Settings Via The EasyAir App?
- The app is intended to provide you with a way to view and provide information only.
- It does not provide a way to change any setting on the heat pump itself.

Is the gateway and antenna part kit compatible with all IDS product models?
No.
The gateway and antenna components come built-in to the IDS Premium Connected and IDS Ultra models, and we have made them available as spare parts in the event of a technical failure.
They are NOT compatible with any other IDS products.
I've had some problems with the gateway connection dropping out. What could be the cause?
Bosch IDS connected products utilize LTE gateways that are dependent on local third-party cellular service.
Signal availability, strength, and performance can be affected by location, weather, terrain, user equipment, network capacity, and other factors that are outside of our control.
Due to that, Bosch does not guarantee cellular service availability or uninterrupted gateway operations.
Neither gateway operations nor cellular availability affects the performance and efficiency of your heat pump itself.
Does the contractor need to connect the heat pump to the home's Wifi network?
The connectivity gateway uses a 4G cellular network, and therefore does not require a connection to a Wifi network.
Is it required that the homeowner must grant remote access to their contractor?
The homeowner is not required to grant remote access.
However, if the homeowner would like to utilize remote monitoring features, they will need to grant remote access to their contractor.
A homeowner can change their monitoring preferences at any time through the “My Appliance” tab in the app.
If the homeowner has no access to a smartphone, will the contractor be able to utilize the connectivity features?
When using the Bosch EasyAir app with their smartphone, the contractor will be able to use and view system data when on site and connected to Bluetooth. Remote features (features available to contractor when not on site) will only be available if the homeowner has downloaded the Bosch EasyAir app on their own smartphone and granted remote access to the contractor.
Homeowners who don’t have a smartphone will therefore be unable to utilize the connected features.
In App stores, I see Bosch EasyAir, Bosch EasyStart, BoschRemote, and Bosch EasyControl. Do I need to download all four for my IDS Premium Connected heat pump?
The only app that you need in order to connect your mobile device to your IDS Ultra is the EasyAir app.
EasyStart, EasyRemote, and EasyConnect are apps that are compatible with other Bosch products, not the IDS Premium Connected and IDS Ultra heat pumps.
I'm seeing an "H4" code on the control board's display on the outdoor unit. What could the problem be caused by?
Safety Notice - This is a high voltage product and contains refrigerant. Only professionals who are qualified to work on such equipment should do so.
You may occasionally see the P6/L0-L9 code shown on the outdoor unit's LED display, and the system will automatically restart after 6 minutes. However, if this happens 3 times within 60 minutes the unit will lock out on an H4 code.
In that event, the installer/service professional should:
1. Check that the service valves are open.
If the valves were NOT open: Open the service valves, then power cycle the product and verify that it runs correctly.
If the valves WERE open: Move to Step 2.
2. Check that the compressor wiring is correctly connected.
If the compressor wiring was NOT correctly connected: Reseat the connections in accordance with the wiring diagram, then power cycle the product and verify that it runs correctly.
If the compressor wiring WAS correctly connected: Move to Step 3.
3. Check the compressor insulation resistance to ensure that is greater than 100kOhms.
If the resistance is NOT greater than 100kOhms : Replace the compressor.
If the resistance IS greater than 100kOhms: Move to Step 4.
4. Check that the resistance of the U/V/W terminals are normal.
If the resistance is NOT normal: Replace the compressor.
If the resistance IS normal: Move to Step 5.
5. Power cycle the unit and ensure that it's now running correctly.
If the unit IS now operating correctly: Keep it running for at least 60 minutes to ensure that the H4 code no longer appears.
If the unit continues to run correctly with no further H4 code after at least 60 minutes: The issue should now be resolved.
If the H4 code continues to appears and the unit locks out: Replace the control board.
The unit does not seem to work in the expected mode (heating or cooling), what could be the problem?
If you're experiencing a situation where the unit is not putting out heated or cooled air when needed, please follow these steps:
1. Has your room thermostat been correctly setup to energize the heat pump's reversing valve in heat mode only?
No: Refer to your thermostat's instruction manual to ensure that it is programmed to energize the heat pump's reversing valve only in heating mode.
Yes: Move to Step 2.
2. When calling for heat, the room thermostat should be sending 24v to terminals C and B on the outdoor unit's control board. Use your multimeter to test across terminals C and B on the control board while the thermostat is calling for heat.
If you are NOT getting 24v to C and B: Check the wiring between the thermostat and the heat pump, and correct any errors or damage that you may find. If you find no issues, then you may have a faulty, or incompatible, thermostat.
If you ARE getting 24v to C and B: Move to Step 3.
3. When calling for cooling, the room thermostat should also be sending 24v to terminals C and Y on the outdoor unit's control board. Use your multimeter to test across terminals C and Y on the control board while the thermostat is calling for cooling.
If you are NOT getting 24v to C and Y: Check the wiring between the thermostat and the outdoor unit, and correct any errors or damage that you may find. If you find no issues, then you may have a faulty, or incompatible, thermostat.
If you ARE getting 24v to C and Y: Move to Step 4.
4. Locate the "CHECK" button on the outdoor unit's control board, next to the LED display. Press the button until the parameter "1" is shown on the display, then wait a second or so and the number will change automatically. This number shows which mode the outdoor unit is currently in:
"0" - Standby
"2" - Cooling
"3" - Heating
