First, ensure that your wifi network is 2.4Ghz and not 5Ghz. Bosch Connected Control thermostats are not compatible with 5Ghz wifi routers and networks.
If you are using a 2.4Ghz wifi network but are experiencing connectivity issues, please follow the guidance below to rule out a wifi range issue.
Wifi range can be reduced by obstacles in the property, such as walls, floors and furniture.
To test to see if your thermostat is experiencing a poor Wifi signal from your router, please do either of the two following tests:
1. Cellphone Hotspot:
a. Use your cellphone to create a Wifi hotspot.
b. While standing close to your thermostat, attempt to connect it to the hotspot instead of your router.
2. Or you can remove the thermostat from its wall mount bracket.
a. Look at the rear of the thermostat and will notice a microUSB socket.
b. Plug a microUSB charger into that socket and use it to power up the thermostat next to the property's Wifi router.
If you experience good Wifi connection on the thermostat with it powered up next to the router, or via your cellphone hotspot, then this may indicate that its wall mounted location is too far from the router. This may be especially true if obstacles are present between the router and the thermostats wall mount location. Consider relocating the thermostat to be closer to the router.
If you still experience Wifi problems with the thermostat powered up next the router or via your cellphone hotspot, and no other Wifi devices are having connection issues, then this may indicate a technical problem with the thermostat itself.
