Maintenance Requirements
Safety Notice - These heat pump models are 240v products, and only professionals who are qualified to work on such electrical equipment should do so. If you are in need of a qualified service person in your area, please use this contractor search page: Find A Service Provider
The maintenance steps below, and how to conduct them, are covered in the manual that came with your heat pump and must be referred to prior to engaging in any work! If you no longer have a printed copy, a new one can be downloaded from this page: Heat Pump Manuals
Maintenance Requirements
Daily (by owner)
- Ensure that the area around the outdoor unit is clear and allows for unobstructed airflow.
- Visually check the exterior of both the indoor and outdoor units, and the ductwork, for signs of physical damage.
If any damage is found during visual inspection, please shut off the power to the heat pump and contact your installer or a qualified service person immediately. Do not attempt to remove the front cover yourself!
Every 90 Days (by owner)
- Inspect the air filter every ninety days or as often as needed. If blocked or obstructed, it must be cleaned or replaced immediately.
Annually (qualified service person)
- Inspect the air filter. If blocked or obstructed, it must be cleaned or replaced immediately.
- Inspect the blower wheel housing and motor, and clean/remove debris if found to be dirty.
- Inspect the indoor and outdoor coils, and clean if necessary.
- Inspect and clean the indoor coil drain pan and drain lines, as well as the auxiliary drain pan and lines.
- Check all electrical wiring and connections. If incorrect wiring is found, please refer to the wiring diagrams in the product's manual to rectify.
If the inspections reveal any damaged components, they must be replaced prior to placing the heat pump back into operation.

If any damage is found during visual inspection, please shut off the power to the heat pump and contact your installer or a qualified service person immediately. Do not attempt to remove the front cover yourself!
Prior To Heating/Cooling Seasons (qualified service person)
- Ensure that the areas around the indoor and outdoor units are clear and allow for unobstructed airflow.
- Inspect the indoor unit's air filter*. If blocked or obstructed, it must be cleaned or replaced immediately.
- Inspect the outdoor coil, and clean if necessary.
- Replace batteries in the remote control.
- Inspect the indoor unit, outdoor unit, the piping bundle, and pipe connections for leaks.
- Inspect the wiring for damage and correct connections.
*Additional Air Filter Information
- After 240 hours of run time, a "CL" code will flash on the indoor unit. This is a reminder to clean the filter. Once the filter is cleaned, press the "LED" button on the remote control 4 times to reset the CL timer and prevent the code from immediately returning.
- After 2,880 hours of run time, a "nF" code will flash on the indoor unit. This is a reminder to replace the air filter with a new one. Once the filter has been replaced, press the "LED" button on the remote control 4 times to reset the nF timer and prevent the code from immediately returning.
