Maintenance Requirements

Maintenance Requirements
Daily (by owner)
- Ensure that no flammable/combustible materials are stored close to the boiler and that the air in the room is uncontaminated.
- Visually inspect the exterior of the boiler for damage or discoloration.
If any damage, discoloration, gas leaks, or water leaks are found during visual inspections, please turn off the power, water, and gas supply to the boiler and report it your installer or a qualified service person immediately.
Annually (qualified service person)
- Check the error code logs. If any error codes are present, please refer to the manual for further explanation.
- Inspect and clean the inlet water filter.
- Inspect the exhaust vent connection, exhaust pipe, and exhaust termination for damage, leaks, discoloration, or blockages.
- Check that gas pressure is within the required parameters.
- Carry out a combustion test, and adjust the air/fuel ratio as needed. Refer to this service bulletin for directions: Combustion Adjustment Procedure. (PDF 0.5 MB)
- Inspect all gas and water piping and connections for leaks or damage.
- Inspect and clean the electrode set.
- Inspect the heat exchanger for signs of damage or blockages.
- Check the heat exchanger's inspection cover and ensure that the bolts are at the correct torque. Refer to this service bulletin for directions: Inspection Cover Torque Requirements. (PDF 0.3 MB)
- Inspect the burner for signs of blockage or damage.
- Inspect the diaphragm.
- Inspect, clean, and refill the condensate trap.
- Inspect the expansion vessel.
- Check the system pressure.
- Inspect wiring for damage.
- Check the controls for correct settings.
Every 5 years (qualified service person)
- Clean the heat exchanger.
If the inspections reveal any damaged components, they must be replaced prior to placing the boiler back into operation.

Maintenance Requirements
Daily (by owner)

Monthly (owner)
After turning off the boiler:
- Visually inspect the condensate trap and PVC fittings inside the boiler.
- Visually inspect the water and gas piping connection for any signs of leaks.
- Visually inspect the exhaust vent connection, exhaust pipe, and exhaust termination for damage, discoloration, or blockages.
If any damage, blockages, discoloration, gas leaks, or water leaks are found during visual inspections, please turn off the power, water, and gas supply to the boiler and report it your installer or a qualified service person immediately.
Every Six Months (owner)
- Check to see if the pressure relief valve is operating correctly. If you do not know how to do this, please contact your installer or a qualified service person and request that they carry out the test on your behalf.
Annually (qualified service person)
- Fully inspect the interior and exterior of the boiler for damage or discoloration.
- Inspect the exhaust vent connection, exhaust pipe, and exhaust termination for damage, leaks, discoloration, or blockages.
- Inspect the water, gas, and condensate piping and connections for signs of damage or leaks.
- Clean the condensate trap and refill with fresh water.
- Clean the air intake filter.
- Clean the water filter.
- Check the system pressure (gas and water).
- Check the ignition electrodes and flame sensing rod, and their wiring connections.
- Check all other wiring connections.
- Carry out a combustion test.
If the inspections reveal any damaged components, they must be replaced prior to placing the boiler back into operation.

Maintenance Requirements
Daily (owner)

- Visually inspect the exterior of the boiler, the vent termination, and the water connections for damage, leaks, or discoloration.
If any damage, discoloration, gas leaks, or water leaks are found during visual inspections, please turn off the power, water, and gas supply to the boiler and report it your installer or a qualified service person immediately.
Annually (qualified service person)
- Visually checking for corrosion or water leaks inside the boiler.
- Checking the gas piping inside the boiler for signs of leaks, corrosion, or damage.
- Check the gas supply piping and pressure supplied to the boiler to ensure that no leaks or damage is evident, and that the supply pressure is between 3.5"WC to 11.5"WC (for NG installations), or 8"WC to 13"WC (for LP installations).
- Check the gas/air ratio, and adjust if needed. Refer to this video for details instructions: Adjusting the gas valve.
- Pressure test the heating system.
- Inspect the air intake piping and exhaust venting to ensure that there is no damage, leaks, or blockages.
- Measure the ionization current.
- Inspect and clean the heat exchanger. Refer to the following resources for directions: Heat exchanger cleaning video and Heat exchanger cleaning service bulletin. (PDF 2.3 MB)
If the inspections reveal any damaged components, they must be replaced prior to placing the boiler back into operation.

- Inspect the pressure relief valve and ensure that its operating correctly.
- Inspect and clean the condensate discharge system.
- Test the low water cutoff switch.
- Verify that the low water cutoff switch can be reset.
- Inspect the water, gas, and condensate piping and connections for signs of damage or leaks.
Whichever Comes First, Annually or Every 2,000 Hours (qualified service person)
- Combustion test.
- Inspect the flue and ai system, including the venturi and fan.
- Inspect and clean the ignition electrodes.
- Inspect and clean the combustion chamber and burner tube.
- Inspect and clean the condensate discharge.
- Check the safety block, the modulation range, and verify that the gas valve closes after burner shut down.
- Check the controls settings and parameters.
- Inspect the gas piping and connections for damage or leaks.
- Inspect wiring and connections.
- Verify correct startup and operation.
- Inspect the flame.
- Inspect the pressure relief valve and ensure that its operating correctly.
- Inspect the burner gasket.
If the inspections reveal any damaged components, they must be replaced prior to placing the boiler back into operation.
