BGS80 Gas Furnace
Maintenance Requirements

The maintenance steps below, and how to conduct them, are covered in the manual that came with your furnace and must be referred to prior to engaging in any work! If you no longer have a printed copy, a new one can be downloaded from this page: Discontinued Furnace Manuals
Maintenance Requirements
Annually (qualified service person)
- Inspect the exhaust venting and vent termination for blockages, damage, or flue gas leaks.
- Verify that the exhaust connector is in place, slopes up away from the furnace, and is free of holes, damage, or corrosion.
- Inspect all wiring and connectors.
- Inspect the heat exchanger/s and fan blower for corrosion, deterioration, or debris.
- Verify that the return air ducting is physically sound, fully sealed to the furnace cabinet, and terminates outside the space that contains the furnace.
- Verify that the physical support of the furnace is sound, with no sagging, cracks, or gaps around the base so as to provide a seal between the support and the base of the furnace.
- Verify that there is no obvious signs of deterioration or damage to the furnace.
- Verify that the pilot and burner flames are in good condition, and adjust if needed.
- Clean and test the flame sensor.
- All installer-supplied air filters should be cleaned, or replaced.
If the inspections reveal any damaged components, they must be replaced prior to placing the boiler back into operation.

- Drain the trap, clean it, and fill with fresh water.
- Clean and test the flame sensor.
